The new programme for promising start-ups

One of the greatest challenges in starting a business is market entry. KICKSTART, the new UnternehmerTUM start-up programme, monitors up to 20 selected technology-led teams annually, preparing them in a targeted way for the challenges of the start-up process. We offer additional sector-specific support to start-ups in ICT, healthcare and clean tech.

  • your innovative business model addresses an existing customer need or identifies new areas of application.
  • you possess an innovation with growth potential which is scalable.
  • you would like to develop your product or service to a marketable state within 6 to 18 months.

Contents and sequence

  • Focal points

    In supporting the kick-start teams, the focus will be on

    • acquiring pilot customers,
    • paving the way for financing by investors
    • building the team and continually developing it.
  • Workshops, training meetings and coaching sessions

    In workshops, training meetings and coaching sessions we educate the teams further in such subjects as business design, market research, sales, marketing, financial planning, law and tax, and monetarisation. In this way you will gain from us the skills necessary for success in customer acquisition and financing.

  • Team building and development

    We pay particular attention to team building and team development. We indicate effective solutions to conflicts and situations of particular friction, and support all participants to become even more effective in their teams.

  • KICKSTART Community

    All teams will benefit from the KICK-START Community and will learn from each other through intensive mutual exchange of experience.

  • Customer validation and investor pitches

    An aspect which we consider of particular importance is early exchange between all KICK-START teams and potential customers, experts and investors. In this way the business starters will find how they are placed with regard to their innovation and what steps are vital for success among customers and investors.
    Teams which develop outstandingly in the programme (validation of business model, concrete establishment of financing needs) will be given an opportunity to convince investors of their business model and to acquire venture capital directly.
