TUM Venture Labs: Venture Manager (f/m/x) Startup Success

About us

TUM Venture Labs is a joint initiative of UnternehmerTUM and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Through our network of domain-specific incubators, we support deep-tech and life science start-ups from the earliest idea to investor readiness, providing access to cutting-edge research, industry experts, and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

As a Venture Manager - Startup Success in the Software / AI Lab, you support founders from TUM during one of the most critical phases of their entrepreneurial journey. You help teams navigate key strategic decisions, continuously develop our startup support formats, and connect founders with the right people and resources across the ecosystem, enabling innovative ideas to grow into successful deep-tech ventures.

Your mission

Start-up Evaluation and Founder Support (50%)

• Identification and selection of promising Artificial Intelligence start-ups for our portfolio
• 1:1 sparring with founding teams on product strategy, market positioning, market development, fundraising, and team building
• Connecting start-ups with experts from academia, industry, and the investor community, and facilitating access to relevant resources within the TUM and UnternehmerTUM ecosystem

Further Development of the Startup Support Process (30%)

• Strategic and conceptual development of support offerings for start-ups within the Venture Lab environment, and implementation of new formats, tools, and structures
• Contribution to the cross-functional "Startup Support" chapter and active exchange with other Venture Labs to develop shared standards and best practices, including ensuring AI is integrated across their activities

Community & Formats (15%)

• Conceptualizing and implementing high-quality expert and community formats in Munich

Data Management and Reporting (5%)

• Maintenance of the CRM system, tracking of relevant start-up and program KPIs, and preparation of insights for the team and Venture Lab management

Your profile

• University degree with a strong technological focus, or equivalent qualification
• Experience in a tech startup environment, for example, founding a startup, working in an operational role at an early-stage company, or supporting founders in incubators, accelerators, or venture programs
• Proven ability to build things from scratch. Whether a startup, community, product, or team
• Passion for entrepreneurship and deep-tech, with a particular interest in Artificial Intelligence and the Munich startup ecosystem
• Strong curiosity to keep up with fast-moving emerging technologies
• Ability to build trusted relationships with founders and partners, and to spar with them on strategic decisions with empathy and clarity
• Fluency in both German and English (written and spoken), with the confidence to communicate with founders, investors, and partners
