The world's leading conference on security policy (MSC) and Europe's largest deep tech ecosystem (UnternehmerTUM and TUM Venture Labs) expand their platform for strategic dialogue between government, industry, and innovation

Munich, October 6 2026. The Munich Security Conference (MSC), UnternehmerTUM, and TUM Venture Labs are continuing their successful partnership at the intersection of technology, security, and innovation. The Hub under the name MSC Frontier Tech Hub will hold its second edition on February 12 and 13, 2027, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Munich and Upper Bavaria (IHK). More than 1,000 international decision-makers from government, industry, defense, academia, and the innovation ecosystem, as well as media representatives are expected to attend. The new name reflects the breadth of this ecosystem while emphasizing frontier technologies as a common arena for innovation, resilience, and strategic shaping.

Held as part of the Munich Security Conference, this invitation-only event pairs the MSC's global network with the innovation ecosystem of UnternehmerTUM and TUM Venture Labs. By bringing together investors, startups, industry, and government, the Hub aims to turn exchange into concrete partnerships and new initiatives.

As geopolitical tension rises and global technology competition intensifies, future technologies have become a top priority in economic, societal, and security policy debates. The MSC Frontier Tech Hub 2027 will focus on the innovations set to shape Europe's competitiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy, with sessions on artificial intelligence, sovereign digital infrastructure, energy and cybersecurity, resilient supply chains, and emerging challenges.

A Successful Debut at the Intersection of Technology and Security

The Hub's first edition in 2026, then known as the MSC Startup Hub, demonstrated the strong demand for this kind of dialogue. More than 800 participants from over 40 countries gathered in Munich, where more than 50 high-level speakers discussed the future of innovation, security, and technological sovereignty across twelve panels and five closed-door roundtables.

"At the MSC Frontier Tech Hub, we bring founders, investors, and industry leaders together to tackle mission-critical challenges. By turning Europe's deep-tech strengths into scalable solutions, we strengthen resilience, prosperity, and freedom," says Prof. Dr. Helmut Schönenberger, CEO and co-founder of UnternehmerTUM.

Dr. Philipp Gerbert, CEO of TUM Venture Labs, adds: "Technological sovereignty does not come from research or regulation alone. It emerges where innovations scale successfully and where strong partnerships form between startups, investors, industry, and government. The MSC Frontier Tech Hub creates exactly that space.”

Benedikt Franke, Vice Chairman and CEO of the Munich Security Conference, underscores the Hub's importance: "For decades security technology flowed from government programs to the market. Today it increasingly flows the other way. Europe's challenge is not to generate innovation but to adopt and scale it fast enough. The MSC Frontier Tech Hub is where we confront that challenge."
