Artificial intelligence is already shaping our everyday lives in many areas and is relevant to all of us. AI is a key technology in the digital transformation of our connected world and a tool that can help us humans through technological innovation. But what exactly is artificial intelligence? What is it already used for and how exactly? What risks arise with the use of AI? Learn more about this in the different modules of the online course "Introducing AI" in German language.

We want to sensitize as many participants as possible to the use of AI technology in everyday life, so that people recognize AI systems, can intuitively understand how they work, and are aware of possible risks and effects.

Dr. Till Klein, Senior Manager of appliedAI Academy

“The course offers an easy introduction to the topic of artificial intelligence. It is aimed at students, professionals and retired people who want to find out how AI affects our everyday life and how to prepare for a future with AI. We want to sensitize as many participants as possible to the use of AI technology in everyday life, so that people recognize AI systems, can intuitively understand how they work, and are aware of possible risks and effects," says Dr. Till Klein, Senior Manager at the appliedAI Academy.

The first module addresses the question of why we should engage with AI and actively shape it. Which are the opportunities learning systems provide and what are the drivers of AI technology today? Using concrete application examples, we explain the benefits of AI, define the technology and show the boundaries to disciplines such as robotics and statistics.

The second module focuses on machine learning and its methods. These are like a new toolbox that offers unlimited possibilities. There are different types of learning and learning methods that can be combined depending on the use case. With these new tools, many challenges can be solved better than before. In the module, we explain newly gained capabilities and illustrate them with examples. In addition to general applications of machine learning, the special potential of neural networks will be addressed, for example, to recognize patterns in data and make predictions, or to classify unstructured data.

However, the use of AI is also associated with risks. The third module is dedicated to problems and limits, as well as ethical issues in the use of AI, and it highlights aspects such as transparency, security and robustness. It discusses how AI can be used responsibly and how its potential can optimally be of advantage. It also explains challenges and basic principles of regulating AI in Europe and other regions.

The fourth module takes a cautious look into the future: What impact will AI have on the major challenges of our time, such as increasing climate change, urbanization and demographic change? How will our working world and everyday lives change as a result of the increasing use of AI technologies? And how can we prepare for a future in which AI is progressingly prevalent? By better understanding the possibilities and limitations of AI technology, we can use it responsibly and benefit from its potential in a variety of ways.
