Bavarian-style of networking - The world's largest founding event "Bits and Pretzels 2018" will once again take place this year with UnternehmerTUM as its partner in a unique setting around the Oktoberfest in Munich from 30 September to 2 October 2018. After all, the best ideas and conversations arise between beer and pretzels.

5.000 Participants, 150 Speaker and 150 Experts

Around 5,000 founders, investors, start-up enthusiasts and decision-makers from the start-up ecosystem are expected to attend the three-day festival. Seven different stages will provide inspiration, learning and matchmaking. In addition, over 100 speakers and more than 150 experts are invited to share exciting insights with the audience. The last day brings with it an extraordinary highlight: the Oktoberfest Networking, where 300 tables in the Schottenhamel tent are reserved exclusively for Bits & Pretzel's guests. This is where the biggest networking event at the Oktoberfest takes place!

UnternehmerTUM Highlights at the Festival

On the first day of the Grand Opening, one should not miss the welcoming words of the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer and the hosts Andi, Bernd and Felix on the "Center Stage". On the same stage in the afternoon André Schwämmlein, founder of the UVC portfolio start-up Flixbus, will give inspiring insights into his internationally successful company FlixMobility. The fastest-growing start-ups in Europe, which have already received at least one Series A funding round, will be spotlighted at the "Spotlight Stage". The start-ups IDnow and navvis, which were accompanied by UnternehmerTUM on their way to success, will also present their company there. At the "Google Stage", Alexander Waldmann will present the appliedAI initiative, focusing in particular on the promising mission of bringing Germany into the age of artificial intelligence and the role played by Google as a respected partner. A special highlight is the "Pretzels Stage", where 2.5 hours of concentrated diversity knowledge is imparted. The route was specially developed to unleash the power of diversity in the start-up world.

Start-up Pitches and Oktoberfest Networking

A great experience will be the presentation of the "Pretzel Award 2018", where the most convincing candidates for the "Start-up Pitch" will be chosen. 100 selected start-ups, including UnternehmerTUM Start-ups Veact, Solos, Blickfeld, KEWAZO, LOEWI and inveox GmbH, will compete for the grand finale in various industry clusters. The competition concentrates exclusively on the product or service of the start-up. This year's motto is: "Show, don't tell".

The last day is dedicated entirely to Oktoberfest networking. This year, for the first time, two promising network concepts will be combined with each other to give the 5,000 start-up enthusiasts at the Oktoberfest a unique experience full of inspiring encounters: At some Oktoberfest tables, for example, there will be a selected "table captain" who will lead the discussion - including Johannes von Borries, Managing Partner of UVC Partners. On the other hand, there will also be "Topic Tables" with a focus on current, exciting start-up topics that are not moderated by a specific person. According to the motto "First-Come-first-serve", participants are given the opportunity to secure a place at their favourite table three days before the start of the event. There, questions can be asked over pretzels and beer, advice can be obtained and valuable contacts can be made - which may take one or the other business idea to the next level.
