TWAICE was founded by Michael Baumann and Dr. Stephan Rohr in 2018. They followed their vision of using analytics software for batteries based on the digital twins that drive forward emission-free mobility and energy supply in Germany. In a joint research project at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the founders dedicated their doctoral theses to the research of the health and lifetime measurement of lithium-ion batteries.
Baumann and Rohr founded TWAICE four years later and the company has grown quickly ever since. In the first year alone, the start-up acquired a strong client base from such areas as the automotive industry and the energy sector.
From the get-go, the company has had UnternehmerTUM Venture Capital Partners and Speedinvest by its side, two strong finance companies which were further joined by Cherry Venture in May 2019.
How Has TWAICE Benefited from UnternehmerTUM?
UnternehmerTUM has provided support for TWAICE in a number of ways: In the early phase, the team especially benefited from receiving training, which helped a great deal during the spinning-off and financing of the company.
What’s more, TWAICE was able to expand its team quickly, as many talented TUM students became aware of the start-up through UnternehmerTUM initiatives and programs. Today, TWAICE continues to benefit from having access to UnternehmerTUM’s strong network which enables them to establish valuable industry contacts
